At San Diego Sports Medicine we want to promote having a healthy diet, but we understand that may not be as simple as it sounds. SDSM wants to give you some tips on how to work towards maintaining a healthy diet.
- Eat Breakfast
- Choose quality over quantity
- Drink more Water
- Experiment with Plant Based Meals
- Reduce added sugars
Starting your day with a healthy meal such as eggs, a banana, and a cup of coffee wil help jumpstart your mind and body.
Are you really that hungry, or does the food just look good? Fruits and vegetables are always a better pick over convenient, pre-packed foods.
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Drinking water quenches your thirst more than drinks with added sugars.
Expand your diet by trying to include more vegetables, beans, and lentils as your main course. It does not have to be an everyday meal but trying to go meatless at least once a week is a great start.
Learn how to read nutrition labels and see how much of our food and drinks have added sugars in them. There are lots of empty calories with little to no nutritional value in drinks with added sugars. Instead drink more water!
