Dr. Matt is my go-to person when I'm feeling pain or sick. Most recently I saw him for neck/back pain which improved dramatically after a few sessions. He aims to treat the root cause of pain and not just alleviate symptoms like a western doctor. He is very knowledgable and stays current on the latest research in holistic/integrative medicine. If you are looking for an excellent acupuncturist and expert in Chinese medicine, I highly recommend calling Dr. Matt.

I was hesitant to go to Prime Wellness, but I am so glad I did! Dr. Austin is on the cutting edge of medicine. She and her staff are so knowledge and actually took the time to understand my health concerns. I came to her feeling terrible, with no hope in sight. This was my last resort. Now, after 9 months of following her protocols, I feel better than I could have ever imagined! My husband and friends have all noticed a significant difference. I have my life back! I would give ten stars if I could! Thank you Prime Wellness!!!!

I was referred to Lora Rancourt at San Diego Sports Medicine in the summer of 2016 for shoulder pain and she has been one of the friendliest, down to earth, most intelligent doctors I have ever been to. She dissected the problem and looked into all possible reasons for the pain and fixed the problem. I just had another appointment after a year of no pain and she was wonderful. I highly recommend San Diego Sports Medicine and its physicians, especially Lora.

Dr. Ralph helped me move! Period. Ive been in so much pain over the years haven't been able to work out, outdoor activities were obsolete and my hobbies were unfinished dreams. I went here many months ago, had appointment with Dr. Ralph. He explained everything clearly, straight to the point and help me save money as much as possible.

I twisted my knee when I was playing soccer. He explained what options for the treatment and tried to give the best I could get.

I really appreciate your helps. Thanks you Dr. Ralph

I've changed doctors and now see a doctor who is very professional and on time. My experience is much better now. I guess it depends who you see.

If they allowed 10 stars I would give it here. I've been coming here for at least 20 years. I started with Dr. Rice and have never looked back. Over the years I only chose insurance plans if this practice was on there. From the front staff (who ROCK), to the nurses, to the AMAZING doctors I will never go elsewhere. If you're not an athlete, do not let the title scare you, they do it all. They have an xray machine and technician on site (time saver for sure). Currently we see Dr. Rohrer except for my daughter who loves Dr. Look (a female doctor). Two years ago Dr. Rohrer saved my husband's life, he diagnosed him with a serious condition that would have killed him in a few days. My kids have been raised through this practice. I have so many happy stories that I don't know where to start, so suffice it to say this is my doctor's office of choice.

I LOVE YOU GUYS, thank you for all the years of phenomenal care you have given myself and my family.

This place is for sure the only Drs office I will ever go to. And that is all due to Dr Ralph. I kid you not- if you make an appt with Dr Ralph you will leave feeling better and like your problems were addressed.

He is the only Dr I will see there. I have tried others and they are okay but nothing like Dr Ralph.

I will be honest though, there is always a wait for a little while once you check in. I have never waited longer than 30 min past my appt time but this has happened no matter where I go and I would rather wait here and get seen by someone qualified then wait less time and see someone I dont like.

I can't claim to know what happened with Yelp-er Jennifer R? I was very pleased with my treatment here when I got a referral from my primary care doctor. FINALLY, I was going to get some therapy for some serious knee problems. In my youthful indiscretion, I would pound the pavement-running marathons, endless laps around the track and just abusing my poor, over-worked legs in general.

So I came for an evaluation with my x-rays. I was given an exam, and told NOT to expect a knee replacement since insurers don’t like to approve one until you hit a certain age. Far from being bummed out, I was reassured by Dr. T that there were things that Sports Medicine can do to make it endurable until the time comes when I can get new knees.

That would include cortisone shots for swelling and a series of hyaluronic acid shots in the knee joint to build up the fluid that acts as a buffering agent (and pain reliever.) Now this shot is not pleasant, as the doctor needs to get it positioned just right. When the needle is all the way inserted, I could feel the steel of it directly against my knee bone-it was a freaky sensation, but Oh! What wonderful relief it brought. I was finally able to walk normal for a while. I was very grateful for this!

Now it’s another BIG HASSLE because I have to mess with the insurance company to get another series of shots scheduled, but San Diego Sports Medicine is working with me on it. The front desk ladies are very nice and they always give you a reminder call the day before your appointments-which is a big help to me since I got a lot going on and sometimes forget!

I do know that some of the San Diego Chargers go here and I am sure the San Diego State Aztecs do too. I like that the doctors also discuss ways to naturally treat your maladies such as nutrition, exercise, heat and ice packs, whirlpool treatments and of course-losing weight. They are just singing to the choir with me, but I do appreciate that they make that effort anyway. This medical office is in a good prime location-right off Interstate 8 near San Diego State University. The Alvarado green trolley stop is directly across the street and Alvarado Hospital is right next door. It’s never fun to have sports injuries-especially nagging, chronic ones but if you have to deal with them, it’s not too bad doing it here.

Went here for the first time a week ago for our 2 year old's well-child visit.

We showed up a few minutes early to the appointment and were seen right on time. The nurses were very nice and Dr. Cheffet was really great. She took the time to talk with us, hear about prior health concerns, thoroughly discuss our concerns and options. She was very caring, and very good with our daughter. We loved our previous ped and were concerned about having to switch due to an insurance switch, but so far we love Dr. Cheffet and the nurses we interacted with.

I took my son with me to my appointment this past week. I am happy to say, they opened up to having a little one running around. Every one that I talked to showed that they care not only for me, but for the fact that I had my son with me.

From the time I did my intake until I left there, really polite people. Friendly staff, over all amazing!.

Thank you all for your professional service!

Cheers!

I have been going to these physicians for about 2 years now. I initially went because I was having problems with my Achilles tendon and have just gone there ever since, they are a general practice as well.

What I really like about these doctors is that they take their time explaining what the problem is, how to fix it, and what my timeline for recovery is going to look like. Other doctors I have been to around here generally say something like "Just take it easy" and give me a Rx. I dislike prescriptions unless I really really need them, treat the problem, not the symptoms!

The doctors I have seen are Dr Rohrer, Dr Evans and Dr Parker, all great and can answer your questions and you don’t feel rushed or like an idiot for asking something different. I have recommended this place to a few of my friends as well.

The front staff is very friendly and so nice when I come in there. The nurses are nice and funny as well, overall a pleasant experience, if you have to go to the doctor.

My whole family are patients of this office and I have been a patient here for over 10 years. They treat their pts. like family. After my husband was diagnosed w/cancer and had to see several specialists in other offices...I really agree that this office is top notch!! The physical therapy staff that previous yelpers complained about aren't even there anymore...there is a whole new staff now. The physician's are excellent, caring and I would recommend them to any and all of my friends and family. 🙂

The appointment schedulers and triage nurse ROCK!!! 🙂

I just got back from an appointment with Dr. Look, and I LOVED her - she seems really intelligent and has a great personality. I absolutely did not feel like just another number. I always take advantage of my insurance to get routine physicals and I've had a few injuries over the years from running. Since I've switched jobs and been in and out of grad school, my insurance (and doctors) were changing a lot, so I've seen a lot of doctors in the past few years. None of them have been as thorough, patient, and amazing as Dr. Look.

I went in this afternoon with some pain in my right knee after months of running and bootcamp-type classes. After immediately getting X-rayed (oh yeah, x-ray machine and technician in the office, so you don’t have to be referred elsewhere or even leave the office!), Dr. Look’s resident and Dr. Look herself both looked me over thoroughly, talked me through my injuries, explained exactly what was wrong, went over my X-rays with me, and even demonstrated the extent of an injury on a model knee. She didn’t look like she was impatient or bored with my questions, and she’s extremely personable.

Time will tell if her advice actually works, but for now, I have an annual physical in December, and for the first time, I’m not dreading going to the doctor’s office! If your insurance covers these doctors, I would go here for sure.

My husband had an appointment with Dr. Ralph today, and it was so awesome! The doctor did not make us wait long for him to get in, and he was very thorough & helpful. He gave my husband lots of good tips to help heal his RSI, and even suggested he see some of the PT instructors at the practice for help. I highly recommend Dr. Ralph, and the entirety of SDSM. The receptionists were VERY friendly and helpful, and I SO appreciated them! All too often receptionists at medical facilities are burnt out & rude, but these ladies are incredible. Thank you, thank you! 🙂

I've been a patient here for five years now. The staff is very helpful and kind. The doctors are the absolute best! It's amazing to come to an office that genuinely cares about you and your needs. I love that this office handles regular family practice issues but is also able to specifically handle any sports medicine issues. My husband and son have Kaiser right now but I cannot wait to get them started at San Diego Sports Medicine! This is truly a one of a kind clinic!

Just over two years ago I was competing for Dork of 2006 and came away with the gold. I took a fall down some stairs at my church on Sunday afternoon, landed on all fours amongst a large group of people. Nah, that wasn't the least bit embarrassing. 😉 One good thing, at least my skirt didn't fly over my head too...Thank God for the pencil skirt.

A former doctor of mine referred me to Dr. Jonathon Myer at SDSM in April 2006. The surgery went very well; he is tops in his field as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. He has a great bedside manner and he has the nicest, kindest blue eyes and warm smile. Sorry, ladies (and gents) he’s married.

Dr. Myer repaired an Osteochondral Defect in my right knee. Once inside my knee he also discovered a couple of bone spurs behind my patella and a few other small tears. He gave it to me straight and didnt’ just paint some rosy picture of how things would be afterwards. He also made sure that I got one of those passive machines following my surgery so i could get my range of motion back quicker. He prescribed the good drugs, too; I was so hyper I spent the first night pacing on my crutches.

He’s definitely the top runner for my next knee surgery which I plan to put off for as long as possible.

I have been going for physical therapy for 1-1/2 years to San Diego Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Center. This was for two different surgeries. Bill Taylor, the physical therapist, is the best. Very experienced and knowledgable about all types of injuries and surgeries. He has been a tremendous help to me. They also fitted me with orthotics. All has been very good. I would recommend them to everyone. The staff is pleasant and very caring.

I came to Dr. Bill post surgery with extreme hip muscle tightness and pain. At my 1st visit I was barely able to sit. His muscle release methods made it possible for me to walk out feeling so much better and I was able to sit at least for short periods of time with the 1st treatment.

I can't say enough about how much he has helped me with my recovery. I highly recommend him

I saw the doctor for the first time this Saturday. I have four slip lower discs in my back that cause numbness and pain down my leg. I have been in pain for the last four years. Taken all sorts of pain meds. With his techniques, The doctor allowed me to sleep pain-free for the first time in a long time. Made a follow up for this week. I HIGHLY recommend his services.

I am lucky enough to have discovered SDSM and now have Dr. Allen Richberg as my family doctor. This guy is awesome. Takes his time with you so you don't feel like you get the "bums rush" as is so often the case. So if you have to sit a little longer in the waiting room that would be why. Totally worth it.

By the way this doctor is also an accomplished athlete but not an elitist that would make a schlub like me feel inadequate. He and his team are positive, upbeat and professional.

Had some knee surgery done through SDSM and got top treatment both pre and post op. Personal follow up calls etc. Very happy with this place!

I have been coming here for years. Really appreciate the ladies at the front desk. They are very pleasant and move you right along. Can't thank Dr. Richburg and the staff enough for the excellent care they have provided to my family and friends over the years.

Even when they are very busy, I have never ever felt rushed. Subsequently, I never mind if I have to wait because I know I'm going to get the same excellent treatment. I have always found the medical assistance to be very thorough when checking me in.

This review is for Greg Bourque who does Acupuncture at SDSM. I started seeing Greg after I injured my back in December 2015. A MRI result from the Navy was assessed as a bulging disc injury that was messing with my S1 nerve. While going through physical therapy, I several sessions with Greg and I noticed an improvement with how my back was feeling overall.

Recently, my back has been a little bit out of whack, so I decided to come see Greg again. What I love about Greg is that he’s probably what we’re missing out there in the medical community: care and compassion. He was very attentive to how I was feeling when I got there, and he got straight to the acupuncture. My back was a bit tender after leaving, but that’s to be expected. Even my session last week has made a noticeable improvement and I plan on scheduling another session this week!

If you are looking for acupuncture to help with any issues with your body, get your butt to Greg at SDSM in Sorrento Valley! They have a very easy online appointment calendar that you can schedule your appointments. They also have a Family Health Center and Physical Therapy if you are in need of those services as well!

I have been seen at San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center for both physical therapy and primary care. After a car accident a few years ago, I have had chronic pain in my neck, shoulder, hand, hip and foot along with tingling and numbness. I completed 6 months of physical therapy with Mike Caisse. I have seen many physical therapists and he has been (by far) the most knowledgable and is continually learning new techniques. His staff is personable and professional. Although my pain will never completely go away, Mike gave me the tools to manage it on my own and taught me how to change my posture and seated positions.

However, along with physical therapy- I was also seen at the family health center for the same issues by Dr. Alexandra Myers. This week my pain had increased in severity after a long 5 hour drive. The pain was so severe that I was not able to work and had trouble sleeping. Dr. Myers was kind and compassionate. I truly felt like she heard my complaints and created a detailed plan to move forward. The medications she prescribed really decreased my pain level. She referred me to a local pain specialist to get nerve testing done, and possibly another MRI. She made me feel very taken care of, satisfied and acknowledged the fact that I was basically miserable. If you are looking for an empathetic doctor who will give you lots of treatment options, Dr. Alexandra Myers is right for you.

I have been a patient here for about 8 years. Dr Rodriguez is amazing for any sort of injury. I had a concussion, and I felt that she gave me the best possible care I could have gotten (she works with rugby teams- she knows concussions!). I have also gone to Dr Myers, who has a great bedside manner and always can answer my medical questions and reassure me. The office is open on Saturdays, which is really convenient for my schedule. Overall I highly recommend, particularly for anyone who has an injury.

I recently had my Resting Metabolic Rate test done at Phase IV in Santa Monica, because it is very close to where I live. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience that included errors in the calibration of the device they used to perform the test, which resulted in a test score that was impossible to achieve. When questioned about these results I was assured they were accurate. I decided to get a second opinion.

I found San Diego Sports Medicine and worked with Greg Bourque, MS, L.Ac., RETUL Cert. and Matthew Downs, Exercise Physiologist to get a retest done. The results came out much more in line with my actual health and current fitness level. I decided to take it one step further and perform a VO2 max test just to be completely sure. The test results were very accurate and I feel that I have a lot of valuable information that will now help me get closer to achieving my goal of participating in my first half marathon this May.

Both Greg and Matthew were so attentive, informative, and knowledgeable. I am inspired to continue improving my health and plan on visiting SDSM again this month to get bloodwork done to check my cholesterol levels as I’ve changed my diet. I could not have had a better experience and I would recommend Matthew Downs for any of your testing needs.

Great bike fit service.

I had the pleasure to work with Aaron on 2 of my bikes. Aaron is very knowledgeable when it comes to bike fitting. He took measurements and after few hours he changed various parts of my bikes to fit my body. It feels like new bikes. After few months I can definitely say it made a big difference for me. The only thing I regret here is not doing it earlier. Knee and back pain are gone. Aaron also gave me various useful tips that helped me. The equipment is top notch and you can see the difference every time he tweaked something. I highly recommend going over and having your bike fit there. It would be the best $$$ you spent on your bike.

Great experience here for an annual exam. Appointment time was right on, not a long wait in the room and Dr. Rodriguez was very attentive and answered any questions I had. I like the emphasis on sports as I had some questions related to creatine and other sports supplements. The front desk could be a little friendlier but their job is to check you in and they accomplished that

Absolutely the best facility I have EVER been to! I have been a patient of Rebeccah Rodriguez since I relocated to San Diego over two years ago. She is current with her knowledge and I always leave feeling she spent an ample amount of time with me. She goes above and beyond in her service! Very easy to communicate with and I trust her completely!

Also, I accidentally paid SDSM twice and they sent me a notice informing me and returned the check I wrote out to them.

This facility is honest, professional, CLEAN, and I highly recommend them! Thank you so much!

Lee Ralph is an outstanding physician, well trained, up to date, thorough, patient and caring. You are not going to do any better than him in San Diego. He splits his time with Alvarado but when he is in Sorrento Valley, he is who I go to see. My experiences over a decade have been exceptional

I had the best doctor here!!!! Rebeccah Rodriguez was one of the most amazing doctors I have ever had, anytime I needed anything or needed to know anything if she didn't know she would go out of her way to do some research for me!!! If she had her own place I could give her a review at I would give her a 10! I have never felt so comfortable at a doctors office before and she definitely went above and beyond to do so. I feel I will never find a doctor like her ever again :-(...

First-time patient today at San Diego Sports Medicine and absolutely love this place! I called this morning for a same day appointment and they scheduled me for 30 minutes later. Very friendly, professional, knowledgable, and caring. I will recommend this health facility!

Dr. Ralph has been my primary care physician for 11+ years. He is knowledgeable, thorough and clear, and always takes as much time as I need to explain and understand the reason for my appt.; during my yearly physicals he does a thorough assessment, and I leave confident that if there are early signs of anything, he'll find them. He is not often available for last-minute appointments, so I have also seen other doctors in the office, with very satisfactory results. The quality of the time I receive every time I'm in their office has always been worth the wait (never more than 30 mins), but wait times have decreased significantly, to almost nothing in the past few years. I would recommend San Diego Sports Medicine to anyone who is looking for a thorough, knowledgeable, respectful medical team. (P.S. they have also refunded my overpayment).

First time here this morning and I can say that I'll DEFINITELY be back.

I came in for a full physical and women's exam with Dr. Rodriguez around 8 (my appointment was at 8:15). Since I was new I had to fill out necessary paperwork for about 15-20 mins in the waiting room. After I got that into them, it was just a few minutes before I was taken to the room and had the basics (height, weight, blood pressure, etc) done with a nurse. Dr. Rodriguez is so knowledge and super friendly. She explained everything thoroughly before performing the procedures, which was really reassuring. I was out by 9:30 which seems incredible esp since she had time to chat it up with me and even told me (an aspiring physical therapist) about opportunities next door at the sports med side of the center.

The only place I’ve ever been for primary care was the same place I went from a newborn til I was 18. I knew all the doctors and nurses and I always went to appointments with a parent. Coming here solo for the first time was really nerve-wracking especially knowing I had to get my first women’s exam (yikes!), but I found everyone very helpful from the receptionist who was patient with a newbie like me who had no idea about anything insurance related to the fantastic Dr. Rodriguez, who I already made my primary care doctor 🙂 The only downside that I found is that you need to go somewhere else if you want lab work done BUT they give you a list of labs they work with which has about 30 labs all around SD county.

SUMMED UP: First time here. Only ran into 2-3 other patients in the lobby so not too busy. Very knowledgeable and patient staff. Full physical and women’s exam and in and out in an hour and a half! Unfortunately, you need to go elsewhere for lab work!

I have been going to this office (various locations) for 10+ years, my husband even longer. I haven't had any of the problems that other reviewers have had. Then again, I have 2 young boys that are usually the ones being seen for scheduled appointments, and I'm sure they do whatever is necessary to get me the heck out of that place before something gets broken. I have always had great experiences here. The doctors, nurses and front staff are always very friendly and warm. I feel like family from the moment I arrive. When emergencies come up the office is always very accommodating and ALWAYS gets us in on the same day. I have no doubts whatsoever that this office is here for me when I need them. I have seen most of the doctors and have had great experiences with all of them. My typical guy is Dr. Allen Richburg. He's awesome!
