Temperatures in San Diego County and other parts of the country hit the 100s in the summer. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 618 people die from complications related to extreme heat each year in the United States. Brush up on your knowledge of heat illnesses now to avoid getting caught in a dangerous situation.
In our last blog for Men’s Health Month, we’d like to guide you through a common condition affecting millions of men – low testosterone. Testosterone (known as T) is the primary sex hormone in men, produced by the testes.
On June 14, 2018, Team San Diego Sports Medicine/Zoca finished the 930-mile ultracycling Race Across the West in 49 hours and 55 minutes. The 4-person age 60-69 mixed team consisting of Rob Bernhard (SDSM employee), Tammy Tabeek, Greg Campbell-Cunefare, and Larry Nelson came in FIRST in their division, set a division record, and placed THIRD overall. It was a race down to the wire with the first two teams tying for first place only three minutes ahead of Team SDSM. Team SDSM was the oldest team to cross the finish line and gave the younger teams a race they’ll never forget. Special thanks to the hard-working crew: Jo Baxter (SDSM employee), Bob Esch, Kathi Medina, Terry Frey, Jim Keller, and Mike Crawley!
